XTU Donates Epidemic Prevention Materials to University of León
Today's world has become an inter-dependent community of common destiny for mankind. On March 19, President Li Bochao, on behalf of all the faculty and students of Xiangtan University (XTU), sent a letter of greetings to Juan Francisco García Marín, president of the University of León (ULe) in Spain. XTU donated 4,000 surgical masks and 20 forehead thermometers to the ULe; and 1,000 respirators and 2 infrared thermometers to the Confucius Institute at the ULe, to assist their efforts in epidemic prevention and control.
ULe in Spain acts as one of XTU’s important partners. Both sides remain close cooperation in the areas of cooperation in running colleges, building Confucius Institute and exchanging students. In the early stage when China fought hard against the COVID-19 epidemic, ULe sent a letter of sympathy over the COVID-19 outbreak in China and showed its support to all our teachers and their family members affected by the epidemic.
Recently, as the pandemic continued to spread in Spain, its anti-epidemic materials were increasingly in tight supply. XTU kept a close eye on the ULe’s fight against the virus and donated epidemic prevention and control materials to the ULe without delay.
In the letter, President Li extended his sincere condolence and concern to the Spanish citizens, and all the ULe’s faculty and students; and firmly believed that the Spanish people will prevail over the pandemic. He also recalled the friendship between the two universities and conveyed XTU’s firm support for ULe’s effort in epidemic prevention and control. The letter read, “We will stand in solidarity through thick and thin together. ULe has been one of significant partners for XTU all along. We will join hands with ULe to tide over the difficulties at any time and under any circumstances.”
